Two Northridge High School graduates were recently inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame.
Cassie (Bjurstrom) Jarrad, Class of 2003, was part of two Northern Lakes Conference track and field title teams. She won seven individual NLC events, was an eight-time sectional champion, and qualified for state seven times. She earned MVP all four years and won the Crystal Valley Exchange Club’s Athlete of the Year award.
She also lettered three times in soccer, earning first-team All-NLC in 2002.
She was an All-American at Indiana Wesleyan University in four events.
Joe Gibson, Class of 2007, was a three-sport athlete.
He was the MVP in football for one year and All-NLC twice, with one honorable mention all-state selection.
Gibson was a two-time team MVP in wrestling. He won two NLC, sectional, and regional championships, and was a two-time semi-state runner-up with two sixth-place finishes at state.
He was also a three-time NLC champion in track and field, and holds the school records in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Gibson was the Crystal Valley Exchange Club Athlete of the Year in 2007.
